“We’ve been given the opportunity to publish a chapter on NCD in a book to be distributed to a larger audience of Christian leaders in our country. An opportunity we would like to use to present NCD and its benefits for the church. We have case studies. We have graphs and diagrams. What’s missing is accurate statistical data to undergird and supplement our NCD presentation. Can you provide us with this information?”
So we set down to work, opened our database holding about 60,000 NCD Surveys from all over the world, and filtered the data by country. Having selected all churches from that particular country, we took a closer look at the data, filtered more data, analyzed them, and finally compiled the information as requested.
And the outcome? We were able to supply our partner with various tables holding the relevant data he was looking for. Tables that allowed him to produce very quickly – just by a few mouse clicks – the kind of diagrams he needed for his presentation. Tables that provided him with reliable statistical information to answer questions such as:
- How many churches in our country have done an NCD survey once, twice, three times, four times and more?
- In what denominations in our country have NCD Surveys been used so far and to what extent (denominational ranking)?
- How do average church health and growth rates of first profile churches in our country compare with the rates of second profile, third profile, forth profile churches and so on? What does the development curve look like?
- What are the most frequent maximum and minimum factors of churches in our country?
- Based on the survey data in the database from churches in our country, what would a church health profile (8 quality characteristics) on the national level look like? What would be the national minimum and maximum factors?
Answers to questions such as these can be very useful …
- not only for NCD National Partners but also for denominational executives as well as leaders of (inter-)national movements, networks, mission organizations, and ministries
- not only for presenting NCD and its benefits in books and articles,
but also for
- orientation, strategic planning, and organizational realignment,
- planning of appropriate training seminars
- designing relevant conferences and consultations on a national or denominational level
- preparing national NCD processes (see Color Your World, p. 142)
- and more.
