NCD Survey for House Churches & Organic Churches

NCD International adapted the current NCD Survey to the particularities of house churches and organic churches. An additional English survey version for this church type is now available and being tested.

Maybe the biggest challenge for house churches, organic churches, simple churches and the like in applying NCD to their situation is the assumption (built in the NCD Survey) that worship is done in a congregational setting with music and a sermon. The setting of those kinds of churches, however, differs markedly from a traditional (institutional) church setting. It’s not only that they place a high value on small group life, but sometimes the small group and the gathering as a church will be the same.

This particular church experience will most likely lead to some confusion as NCD Survey participants are asked to evaluate both their personal small group and worship service experience. Since typically both happen in the same setting (and not in different settings as in traditional churches), what exactly is the point of reference for each type of question? Some people would be in groups and they may think the small group question is referring to that experience; others would relate the question to the gathering of the church. So what we’ve done now is rephrase and adapt some of the survey items to match them to the experience of house/organic/simple churches.
